One of our developers is representing England at the World Cup!
When you think of the stereotypical pastimes of professional programmers, being an international sports star might not be one of the first things to cross your mind. Well we're very pleased to break the mould here at KMP Digitata and report that our .NET developer Akash Sood is taking some time off to represent England in the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup.
While we'll miss him around the place, we're really proud that our lad from Ashton is jetting off to Gugarat, India to test his skills against the best in the world. The tournament takes place in the state capital of Ahmedabad and pits the top 12 international teams against each other in a round robin format. If, like me you are old enough to remember Kabaddi on channel 4 in the 90s, you might know that Kabaddi is a very simple game to understand but pretty tough to play. The individual members of the teams can score points in "raids" by tagging opposition players and then running back to their own half before being tackled.
Akash and Team England are kicking off their campaign against Bangladesh on Saturday 8th October at 2.30pm BST (19.00 IST).
We wish them all the best.
